Is the mosaic badge part of this? That's the one I use in almost every blog post. Not sure
    what "badge" is referring to.

In the OP I was referring to the sort of badge that I've used at http://beardedgit.com/?p=5297

Sorry guys. Badges, in the state that you know them, will not be added to the New SmugMug.

Allen, beardgit unveiled and his still work. So yours will also, but I will try to get an answer for "down the line"

I am just so furious about this right now that I don't even know what to say. I use this all over the place! I get tons of traffic to my site from various badges. And I have them operating in businesses as well.... it's really important to me. When I stop spluttering, I'll provide links and etc., but this is all I can muster right now. Not even any real reasons... it just seems like... "well, we made a big splash with this a few short years ago, but now we just don't feel like bothering, so... oh well, guess you guys can just deal with it." It truly rots.

I keep looking at MB's words...

and wondering if there's anything to be construed from the "in the state that you know them" part. We know from past experience that sometimes MB is "prevented" from giving us the whole story.

It could be a red herring, but maybe it's a hint that SM might be considering something similar but "improved"?

FWIW, I've been tinkering with the code for some of the badges that I have embedded in my blog. Against all odds I actually got to grips with the code, pasted in the ID and Key from a different gallery, faffed with the number of rows and columns, and amazingly it worked!
So, for now, there is a long-winded external workaround for making new badges.

Oh, and I found this: http://www.waltercedric.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2005&catid=290:joomla&Itemid=329

I've been using the same code and just changing the gallery ID and key. I have not unveiled so have no
idea what's used in your new code. Is it basically the same object code?

Yup. The only oddball thing that I have to contend with is the fact that I don't have "clean" badge code to work on. I'm relying on a copy that I used on a WordPress.org blog, and WP's Post Editor mangles the original SM code so much that it ends up like this:
    <div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% #444444; overflow: hidden; text-align: center; padding-top: 13px; width: 620px; height: 620px; margin: 0pt auto;"><object width="600" height="600" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://cdn.smugmug.com/swfs/badge/flashbadge.swf?useLargeImages=true&nickName=beardedgit&feedType=&BadgeHost=cdn.smugmug.com&albumID=13347457&albumKey=ya6ZM&width=600&height=600&gridSpacing=10&gridColumns=3&gridRows=3&background=%23444444&preloaderColor=%23444444&preloaderGlow=%23444444&gridDelay=5&slideshowDelay=1&order=norandom&forceSize=&showCaptions=false&introMode=fadein&aboutlink=&sharelink=&albums=" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><embed width="600" height="600" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://cdn.smugmug.com/swfs/badge/flashbadge.swf?useLargeImages=true&nickName=beardedgit&feedType=&BadgeHost=cdn.smugmug.com&albumID=13347457&albumKey=ya6ZM&width=600&height=600&gridSpacing=10&gridColumns=3&gridRows=3&background=%23444444&preloaderColor=%23444444&preloaderGlow=%23444444&gridDelay=5&slideshowDelay=1&order=norandom&forceSize=&showCaptions=false&introMode=fadein&aboutlink=&sharelink=&albums=" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always" allowscriptaccess="always" /> </object></div>

It ain't pretty, is it? The WP Post Editor doesn't put much effort into code formatting <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

The four red bits are the places where I paste in the "new" IDs and keys, which I glean from New SM via Share > Get a link > Gallery Links > Slideshow (there's probably an easier way to get the key & ID but this works for me). Anyway, here's a screenshot:

    smgalleryIDKEY-O.jpg

Yeah, "Get a Link" still has that Legacy look in unveiled New SM.

After that I'll faff with height/width/spacing/columns/rows to suit.

Like I said, it's long-winded but it works.

I'll wager that someone with more grey-matter than me could whip up a simple script that would make the process much easier.

Careful coping, the forum could add spaces in the code. I see spaces in your two nicknames.

Thanks for that, it'll make life easier not having to wade through all those &amp and %23 bits <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

I noticed the spaces, I think it's because when I first composed the post here I put the WP code in CODE tags, but because it displayed in one long unbroken line I went back and edited it to be in QUOTE tags instead.

    Onwards and upwards!

Have you guys thought that maybe, just maybe, since the old badge system uses flash, that they might be coming up with something that works on all devices and for the future? I have no knowledge, but that sure makes sense to me. Old badges that are implemented already on your blogs etc still work after you migrate thumb.gif
