Backcountry goodness!
So I recently turned the big 3-0 and went on a backcountry hut trip with friends to celebrate. Turned out to be a bit of adventure with taking the wrong trail, breaking new trail and finishing up in the dark Here are few of my favorites from the trip...

My friend Jon enjoying the day!

The sign that should have clued us in that we were going the wrong way!

Nothing like a warm fire after a long day on the cold trail.

Peaceful outside, fun party inside!

Whiskey by candlelight.

The next morning, what a sight!

Nothing quite as peaceful as being in the middle of the wilderness at over 10,000' feet!

Breakfast is served!

Tubing is fun!

Getting some air!

Snowshoe fun on the way down!

Goodbye Aspen!

Thanks for looking!

More wag. Less Bark.
I've always wondered why there are not more hut systems. Seems like a wonderful way to enjoy the bc.

Happy B-day old man!

Yeah, the hut systems are wonderful - it would be nice if there were more. This one is only open during the winter due to its location within a wilderness area and a nearby elk herd. We are doing another trip in February, so hopefully I will get some more shots!

Thanks for the b-day wishes! I did feel old after 14 miles of snowshoeing that weekend!

Ha ha! I bet it was a lot of fun--I just dug my snowshoes out though I doubt I'll get anywhere anytime soon.
