I can see it easily winning first! Was there a story to go with this? The lake reflection is just beautiful as the background lighting to show off the pole. Could you share some specs?

The word amateur has been redefined throughout the years and has lost the gleam of its original meaning.
The English word comes from the Latin word amore, which means to love.
An amateur is someone who does something simply for the love of it.

Thanks, Eia. This is not a lake. It´s a river called "Douro" (the english translation is golden, and you can see why it is called so...). Btw, this is the river throught which, in the beginning of the XX century, the PortWine barrels used to be transported towards the cellars of my town, Oporto (which also shares its name with the wine).
A story behind the picture... well, nothing special. I took it during a short walk along the north bank of the river (it is one of the nicest parts of the town, at sunset / dusk). Fortunately, I was bringing the tripod (and camera...)with me, found the guy and.... voilá!
Later, I submitted it to a contest and...

Lovely shot. I really like the silhouette of the fisherman and his placement in the scene. The line created by the fishing rod kind of draws you in as well. Just beautiful.

To beat this the first place photo must have been a whopper!
