Congratulations silversx80 for the DSS #90 (letter) Winning Photo!
Choose up to your Top 10, you have multiple votes! You may vote for one or more up to 10.
The gallery is here for commenting.

You have the ability to choose up to 10 of your top choices by selecting them from the poll.
The poll will remain open for 72 hours, and any previously registered member of DGrin may vote.

Warning: you will not be able to come back and add more choices after you click the voting button.

There were 3 disqualifications this round
Pistonspy - Plastic Dreams,
Zoomer - Das ist Z rot blume,
Shofoto - Statues of different Points of View
All three were taken outside of the challenge time frame.

P.S. If your observant you will see that more than 10 can be chosen. Just remember if you vote for all of them its like you didn't vote *Also you are able to see any photo in its large form by clicking on it.

Congratulations everyone on a great round of entries! As we look toward voting and commenting on these entries, I wanted to mention the "Feedback and Comments" thread Divamum started right after the last challenge. There was some discussion of holding off on making comments on the photographs in the gallery until after the voting ends. Some expressed the feeling that the comments may affect the way people vote. Others pointed out that you can vote first and read comments later. So no clear consensus. Several entries in the gallery have comments now but I think some people may be waiting to post comments until later. (That's my current plan, at least. May change if it seems like the majority are posting comments earlier - making it less likely that folks will be checking back later....)

Folks also expressed the hope that more people will make an effort to comment, and it is hard to know how timing might affect this. Some might find it easier (and more spontaneous) to post comments while looking over all the entries and others may write the comments (in a word document) and then hold them until a bit later. So if you don't see comments on a photo, check back later. And please don't take a lack of comments on photos as an indicator that these entries are lacking in some way.

Hope folks will do whatever works for them! There was definitely consensus that making and receiving comments can be very helpful to us all. The "Feedback and Comments" thread may be helpful to those looking for ideas on how give good feedback on the work of others.

Cheers,
Gretchen

P.S. Coming back to say that I offered this summary for those who may be brand new to the challenges or didn't have time to read that thread. Whatever happens, happens!

I noticed that the entries on the first page, or the first few entries, tend to get a lot of comments, but the later entries don't get many comments. I'm never really sure how good my entries are because I tend to enter near the end of the time period for that challenge, so my entry isn't usually in the first few entries. I'm usually struggling over trying to get a better shot right up until the day before the challenge ends. Maybe it's just me? LOL

I find the comments in the threads helpful for specific input on ways I might improve a photo or which ones strike others as a good fit for the theme. And then the voting gives me a feel for how others feel the photo fits the challenge in the context of other entries for the theme. I also appreciate comments in the entry gallery, whether they are affirmations or constructive suggestions for future work.

With the recent discussion of trying to comment on every photo, we may see more comments this time. But there wasn't any clear consensus that I could see other than hoping that more folks will make (helpful) comments!

I like to have some personal goals for my photography - as a tangent to the challenges - and then see what I can do to meet them. It's another way to try to keep growing as a photographer. The work of other photographers on Dgrin continues to be an inspiration, showing me there is plenty of room to grow!

That probably has as much to do with the amount of time some photos are in the gallery (early entries) as the quality if the photo. I think that most move on to the next contest and don't look back at the "old" gallery once the winners are announced. That said, in light of the great points made in the other thread and having been guilty of that very thing in the past, I intend on going back post vote and commenting on a few.

Sometimes, I get really inspired by the different photogs, and then OTOH I get discouraged, too, because I think I'll never be *good* enough. It's a big tug-o-war I go through at times.

I usually go back to the gallery a time or two to read the comments, so I'll be looking for yours! :)

Congratulations. Well deserved. The extreme arachnaphobe in me hates it, but the rest of me loves it. I better be able to get to sleep tonight or you're in trouble.
