I went over to Hoboken, NJ with a friend to shoot the Macy's fireworks display on the Hudson River. They had 4 barges on the river for the display, and we were set up on the waterfront between the last two on the south end.

Here is one of mine. I like the way you guys have included the city in your shots and I will try this more next year. It certainly give the photo more atmosphere!!

Wow. You all take wonderful fireworks photos! I tried for the first time this year at our little podunk show in Amarillo. My remote would work on everything but the bulb quick response mode, which made timing a bit iffy as our show is only about 15-20 minutes long and they send all the shots to the same place. To top it off the wind was blowing it's usual 30mph so getting the camera steady was a pain and my focus got off a hair (I really need to get my glasses script changed). I got a few decent shots I think for my first time trying though.

When you have Midtown Manhattan as a backdrop, it would be criminal not to include it!

Very nice work, everyone!

Allen, I love the "motion blur" look coming off the light streaks on your shots!

Shane, I know the wind may have made it tough to keep the tripod steady, but I bet it helped blow away the smoke between shots!

I was having problems with my remote also - it would trip the shutter perfectly, except in Bulb mode, where it would consistently give me 1 second exposures, regardless of my camera settings. I ended up setting the camera manually for 10 to 15 second exposures, and using the remote to trip the shutter when I saw them launch. I guess you get what you pay for - that $20 remote only lasted 4 years...

I did several 6 second and longer exposures and because they were sending 3-4 at a time every 2 seconds it just ended up a mess. They were just trying to get them up as fast as they could. There was very little "dark" time between any of the shots. I have maybe 6 shots where they are single explosions. It made it rather frustrating.

Phoenix 4th
This was taken at the downtown Phoenix 4th celebration 2012. It was the very first I took before switching lenses, but happened to be the only really good shot that came out of the bunch.
