quick question
does the D7000 have a interval timer setting, which i can set the camera to take 30 sec pictures any where from 20 to 300 at one push of the button ?

It does indeed have a built in intervalometer. I haven't tested that specific time, but I have used it for a short timelapse capture.

In your shooting menu, titled Interval Timer Shooting. The camera icon menu, not the custom shooting one.
