Recs on Vegas day trips
We're going to Vegas soon. Would like to make some "day trips". Suggestions needed on good places to visit & photograph. Thanks!

Only been to Vegas once. But was able to visit a few places. I highly recommend two that would be easy day trips:

Hoover Dam

Valley of Fire

Try Red Rock Canyon, its only about 1 hour out of Vegas and is fairly interesting.

Red Rock Canyon is on the west side of Vegas and takes less than 20 minutes from the Strip. Great place to shoot.

Death Valley was actually one of our original plans while on our trip. Until we found out the day were planning to go that it was over 130 degrees in Death Valley!! We found Valley of Fire as an alternative, and though still hot, was very enjoyable.

Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and Death Valley are all favorites of mine. Death Valley isn't really doable if you're talking about a summer trip, but the others should be OK.

The new bridge over the Hoover Dam and the dam itself are worth a trip if you haven't been there before.

Hoover Dam is a must. Plus there are some hiking trails near by that can give you some great shots. If it is the summer, then how about Mt. Charleston? A lot cooler and some great mountain shoots.
