views but not sales
In the last two days my latest gallery has had 1600 views. I have print and download pricing, but no sales.
What could be the reason for no sales? Is this normal? Thanks so much. |

Hi BlueandBrunette,
There are few factors of why the viewers have not place any order - it could be the time (sometimes viewers view the photos before they place an order), you could revise your pricing or you need to allow more time. We have some great articles on how to market yourself: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/por...arket-yourself And: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/por...-lots-of-money I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any more questions. Take care, Tom SmugMug Support Hero

You didn't mention the purpose of the gallery. Was this an event you were hired to shoot, or is it a more general gallery? I don't thnk it's uncommon to have no sales in a "regular" gallery. If the gallery represents an event or an occasion where you were hired to shoot then it might be worth checking back with the folks who hired you.
I don't see a link to your site so I can't check. Access to Orignals is protected on your site, right? --- Denise

Add an expiration date. Without one, customers don't have a reason to buy. They can just keep going to your site to view. If they know the images will only be available for a certain time, then they'll buy.

This appears to be a high-school play. You may want to target the parents instead of the students. At an image count or seventy-two, 1600 views 'could' be interpreted as twenty-some-odd cast members looked at each photo once. So this might not be what could be called super-traffic. And marketing to high school students (kids/minors) presents some very unique things to keep in mind: - Security: Screen grabs vs prominent watermarks (that cannot be cropped out) > Social features like SHARE EMAILS and FACEBOOK sharing - check out this help page and video to batten down the hatches - http://help.smugmug.com/customer/por...ect-my-images- And their attention span vs disposable income - /wink - Near as I can tell, you have EVERY SINGLE print product AND paper finish priced in the cart - That's an AWFUL LARGE MENU to browse! We provide every product to you as the pro, but you need to choose what works for your customers... a good practice is to avoid CCP (customer choice paralysis) - Don't make them 'think,' Choose for them and make their buying decision easy! Limit the amount of products to a very few - choose a single paper finish and aspect ratio, eg: Lustre in 5x7, 8x12 and 12x18 --- small, medium, large - easy! - (for illustration only, here's what my cart looks like to a customer: http://tinyurl.com/9zxyrv3) - Lastly, unless you have a contract/agreement with the school/parents providing for this, you may wish to reconsider making Commercial Downloads available for purchase - I sure hope some of this helps! - |
