I like the second one better, but would consider a portrait crop that loses the right side of the image. The colors and bg are quite different and effective.

I think I like the third! It's like an alien landscape in there.........

Thanks everyone for the input. I meant to get out and try some more today but ended up taking the kids to a baseball game instead. I guess #3 will end up being my entry.

I actually like #1... the tones are really nice.

The focus seems a little off in #1. Maybe I need new glasses?

I like #3 with the little guy.

I like the tones, balance & DOF in #3 - the bug does draw me in.
