Which slideshow are you trying to install? Right now, you have the Smugmug slideshow in your bio box.

It doesn't look like you currently have any of the elements of the slideshow installed. The tutorial is here. The code and general instructions are here. If, after you've followed the steps in the tutorial, you then have further problems post a specific question back to this thread.

It will also help if you put a link to your site in your dgrin signature so it is always available to people that want to help (so we can easily find your site).

Yes there are no elements of your slideshow in my page...I am wondering if I have to remove anything to get it to work.
I did install it as per directions and I got no slideshow.

The only thing you have to remove is the Smugmug slideshow that's currently in your bio area.

Error: "Slideshow CSS is not properly installed..."
Hi John,

I've added your slideshow to the homepage of a site I'm putting together for my boyfriend, but whenever I view the page there is no slideshow. Instead I get the error, "Slideshow CSS is not properly installed or there is an error before the slideshow CSS preventing it from working." This happens in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, and I can view others' installations of the slideshow fine in all those browsers. My custom CSS validates in the W3C validator. I did assign position:relative to the #bodyWrapper, but I tried changing it to absolute (based on the if statement in line 1556 of the bottom Javascript which triggers this error message) to no avail. I swear I've double-checked everything -- can you shed any light here? The site is at voik.smugmug.com. It's in trial mode.

thanks,
erin.

Hi John, wanted to know where I went wrong if possible. I think I successfully inserted the Top and Bottom Javascript, as well as the CSS code, but I'm stymied with inserting the Activation Code into the "Bio" area.

The instructions sy to insert it into the Bio are on my homepage. Click the edit button near the Bio area on the homepage and add this to the Bio area.

I'm lost here.

My home page doesn't have a Bio area with an edit button near it.

Can you help clarify for me? I know it's got to be something obvious and simple and I'm just not understanding it.

Thank you for writing this wonderful HTML slide show!

Glenn

Look in the "Homepage Layout" dropdown and check bio to enable the biobox.

I had not added the code previously because it said it was going to put my "logo" below which I did not want my logo moved at all.

I have added the code to my bio and it does not appear to have worked.

Add this option to your slideshow config in your bio:

spaceToReserveAtBottom: 70,

This will reserve space for your logo below the slideshow. If you want to make sure that the copyright message is right below the slideshow rather than at the bottom of the window, then you need to use the aspectRatio option that my previous post recommended.

I'll have to start from scratch tomorrow. I'm doing something wrong, but have saved my previous settings so not worried about losing them if I can't get this right.

Thanks for the help and I'll keep at it!

I'm following up on my message posted Monday. I've been doing some more troubleshooting and having no luck getting the slideshow to work. I copied and pasted the JavaScript top and bottom directly from John's website and I copied in the CSS from the slideshow documentation. Nothing was transcribed (and I do web design so I'm familiar with the syntax of CSS and JS anyway). I'm at the end of my rope and hoping someone can shed some light here. I've tried removing all my custom CSS (not much, as I'm just starting to rough in the site) to no avail. Here's what I posted Monday:

Right now, I see that you are missing the main CSS for the slideshow from Step 2 of the tutorial. You get that CSS from the same place you got the top and bottom javascript. It's a big block of CSS (814 lines). The error you were getting is trying to tell you exactly this. You are missing the main CSS for the slideshow and all of it's slide animations.

Thanks, John, for taking time to help idiots like me! I assumed I had copied the right CSS, but it was the wrong snippet. Looks like it'll work now, and hopefully I won't do anything else dumb to break it!

Maybe someone can help me with this. I have the slideshow running just fine (Thanks John!!!!!). My issue is when it comes to adding options. I want someone to be able to click on the slideshow and go directly to my galleries page. Does the option code go into the bio box area, or do I need to add it via the advanced customizer? I also want to add image borders to the slideshow. Here's my site:
