Very nice Brian. Lovely and sharp.

I rescued one of these hovers from our conservatory a month or so ago. I also gave it a lunch of honey (Didn't take any shots as I'd let it get its fill under a glass before releasing it). What I found rather amusing was that after it had finished, it climbed up the inside of the glass and was glowing bright yellow and rather fat looking . I never realised their abdomen was translucent enough to see the honey inside. Reminds me of those ants a while back that were fed coloured sugar drops :)

Yes hoverflies can be pretty transparent when full - most obvious when females are full of eggs
