Hi Y'all,

On my recent trip to South Africa I took thousands of captures. As per the norm most were crap and some were acceptable. Then there are the few that hit home for me. They will get some wall space. When I'm sitting on my butt wondering if it is worth it to spend lots of $ & fly in coach for 14+ hours to return to Africa. just to take some pictures I look at them and then start packing.

Harry, these are sick!! And I mean that in the very best way. Serious wall hangers. Money shots. Incredible.

Say, is that last one an HDR?

Ooooooh Aaaaaaah ... on my "Bucket list". You can feel the atmosphere of the scenes. I was thinking #1 was my pick ... until I go to #4! Wow ... stunning. Love the composition, the range of colour and the contrast. A wonderful set ... aaah ... one day.

Thank you kindly dawg. The last shot was definitely not an HDR (it was taken from a moving land rover). I used Nik's Detail Extractor and Tonal Contrast filters from the Color Efex Pro 4 plug-in on that image.

The landscape at sunset alone is worth the trip, Harry. I can't even begin to imagine being in a place with so many photo ops.

It is a marvelous place to see. Every day in Africa has produced a sight that was incredible.

I love these, Harry. The far background behind the giraffe is wonderful! Too bad you couldn't have had something like that behind the gorgeous cheetah. If the elephant were mine, I'd bump the black just a wee bit more. Were these shot in Kruger? I was there in '73 with a Leica IIIc. I sure didn't get anything like these.

Thanks John and I will try out your suggestion on the elephant image.

These were taken at the Sabi Sands Reserve which is fairly close to Kruger.

That Sunday morning at the waterhole at sunrise with the giraffes was truly magical, wasn't it Harry?

I don't like a lot of shots of giraffes, but that morning was just one great image after another!
