The Norris Basin in Yellowstone brews up some of the darnedest concoctions you've ever seen. Their beauty belies the danger they're fraught with. The mantra at this place is " Look, but don't touch ".

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

There's a distinct, but somewhat muffled, scent that pervades the entire area....reminds me of an artesian well that's heavy with the smell of sulfa water. Not surprising, considering that stuff bubbles up all over the place.

I really need to get there one of these days. Great shot, I really like the saturation of colors, lots of potential for great abstracts.

I sure hope you make it there, buddy. There's no other place like it.

    Take care,

I tell you, Taz, there's no end to sights like this one. The major basin areas just absolutely overwhelm the visual senses with scenes that are so alien to what we normally experience.

    See you,

I don't know if you ought to ever visit this place, Randy. Stomping around in puke may not be your thing. :D

I hope y'all have a safe trip home.

For those wishing to visit Yellowstone I would highly recommend getting and reading the book "Death in Yellowstone" before you go.

You will be glad you did.

Thanks for the kind comment, Eric.

Maybe you and Randy can share some of his waders and then the regurgitations of the guys y'all mention won't bother you too much. :D

    Take care, my friend,

Sam makes a good point. The place is DANGEROUS. On the first day of my first trip there, two people were killed; a young girl, on her first day on the job as a Summer intern at one of the lodges, fell to her death at the Lower Falls and an idiot, who thought it was sheik to taunt a Bison, died when the thing gored and stomped him.
