Acadia in May

Early May meant it was time for a visit to Acadia National Park. I wish it was a little closer to home but the 4 to 5 hour drive is very reasonable for a weekend. I left home on Thursday morning heading for Yarmouth, Maine and a visit with a friend. It was a rainy and chilly day so we pretty much skipped wandering, opting for a good indoor visit instead.

Friday dawned with the promise of clearing skies. I headed to the Schoodic Peninsula section of the park to start my wanders. While I suspect this section of the park is less visited than the section on Mount Desert Island, the presence of a new campground may change some behavior.

I shared the wonders of Schoodic with a few other people but there were times then it was just me and the sea gulls.

The next morning dawned, greeting me with overcast skies and a bit of fog. I decided to walk from my B&B (the Holland Inn, a wonderful place to stay!) to the Wild Gardens of Acadia and back again. It was too early for flowers; I enjoyed the somewhat fog-shrouded landscape.

Back at the inn, I grabbed my keys, hopped into the car, and headed back into the Park. I drove around Park Loop Road, stopped to walk as the spirit moved me.

The next morning I walked along the coast again before heading for home.

I hope you've enjoyed this sampling of photos from my wander in Acadia National Park. If you'd like to see more photos from the trip they can be seen in the gallery Acadia interlude.

Photos were taken with my Fujifilm X-T1, using the XF10-24 and XF18-135 lenses.
