I figured i'd throw it out there.
What do you feel is a better gear layout for a pelican case: glass laid out flat or vertical?

option A

option B

    Layout
I personally like Option B. It's easier to identify the individual lenses.

Looks to me like you can fit more lenses with option A, and since you have the lenses marked, A is my favorite.

I like option B, seems that the lenses are safer to me in that orientation. It's probably a minor thing as they should be safe enough either way but the front elements are more protected when the lenses are lying flat.

I've no idea which is 'actually' safer, but I'd probably go with B.
All the lens' diameters are closer to each other than their lengths,so the 'padding' is likely to be more uniform... and in either arrangement you're already accepting that 3 lenses laid flat are going to be safe ... so why not the rest?

It also looks like you could get 7 lenses in B, with a bit of a re-jig, thus reducing the payload difference.

Personally - as a mere amateur (with limited interests), I can't imagine what circumstances would necessitate me lugging all this junk around, tho :)
