New Photos Don't Show up / Unlisted Photos Not Hiding

Howdy SmugMug,
Weird thing today when I uploaded some photos to an existing gallery (http://leftquark.smugmug.com/Photography/Architecture/GGB-Sunrise-Attempt2-2011-09/19167823_XqMs8v#1495477657_5vxBZdJ):

3 photos were already in the gallery when I uploaded 13 new photos. They uploaded successfully. When the gallery reloaded, only 3 are shown. Thinking that I uploaded them to the wrong gallery, I had smugmug show me all photos uploaded between Oct 3 and Oct 4. The 13 photos I uploaded showed up. When I click "See Photo in Original Gallery" I end up at the gallery of 3 photos and the 13 new ones still aren't there. I've tried in Safari and Chrome on a Mac, and even had a friend pull it up on his computer, on another internet connection, and he only sees 3 photos.

Another strange thing, although I can't show you the issue: I uploaded photos to an unlisted gallery (on my other smugmug site, http://www.aaronmphotography.com). My homepage shows the 6 most recent uploads, but it ignores photos in unlisted galleries. For some reason, 3 of the photos in the unlisted gallery showed up in the most recent uploads. I had to manually hide the photos to get them to disappear from the recent uploads. I then made the gallery public and reset it to unlisted. A different 2 photos were now visible in the recent uploads. The gallery is now public so I can't show you what it's doing :( Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Leftquark

    Hi Leftquark,

Sounds like the gallery failed to update (possibly due to last nights issue). Just add another photo to the gallery and it should update also showing the missing photos. Sorry for the hassle.

    2. Homepage boxes don't refresh in real time and it may take a while for them to refresh. Also note that visitors won't see photos from unlisted galleries in the recent photos. That's just for you as the logged in account owner.

    Yep -- that worked! Thanks!

I actually viewed it in both visitor view, and on another browser where I wasn't logged into my account, and both displayed the photos in the unlisted gallery on the homepage. That's why I was surprised and posted here. I had photographed a reunion and put the photos up in an unlisted gallery so the reunion committee could approve them. When they showed up in Recent Uploads on my homepage a bunch of people from the reunion found the photos when they shouldn't have and the reunion committee got temporarily angry at me for allowing people to see the photos before they were ready :/

Thanks for the quick reply Sebastian! Appreciate it :) This is just one of the many reasons why I love SM!

Maybe the gallery in question was initially public for a short period? Since the homepage boxes updated delay before the box updated next. Besides there was the site issue last night which may have prevented the gallery / homepage box from updating.
If you can still reproduce the issue, write our helpdesk with details:

    Hi,

As a further update: We had some problems with uploading photos that caused the photos to seem to disappear and then reappear later on. We got the problems sorted out, you shouldn't see it anymore.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you :)

    With best regards,

this is happening to me. I used the latest version of MacDaddy 3.0.4 for the upload. Adding a new picture to the gallery didn't make the photos appear on my recent photos on my front page. :-(

Everything seems to be showing for me. Try clearing your browser cache, and restarting your browser to see if that helps. thumb.gif
