This is my first whack at shooting a lighthouse. It's on the Oregon coast (Yaquina Head), and the weather was perfect. The occasion: Beth's birthday!

CC totally welcomed and requested. Thanks for viewing!

I like #2 and #3 best. I was really struck by the strength and majesty of #2. And in #3 the people really show the scale of this imposing structure.

Thanks Coop! I keep wanting #1 to be awesome, but as you've pointed out through your compliments of #'s 2 and 3, the size is just lost.

I love #3. It magnifies the ocean setting and the lighthouse looks great in this shot.
#2's good and if #1 had something in the foreground grass such as a really nice flower to breakup the grass that would be awesome with the lighthouse as background or move the lighthouse down in the shot and give it more sky. I love lighthouse shots! thumb.gif

Shooting down on a lighthouse, as you have in #2 and #3 is very
effective and eliminates the perspective distortion of shooting
    from the base. Well done.

There are always exceptions, but I generally prefer off-center
compositions. #2 and #3 are the better for it.

You might check the last Mini-Challenge for Lighthouses over
in the "DGrin Challenges" forum. Some nice shots there.
