Some more shots using an MPE-65 lens on a sony A7 taken between 3:1 and 5:1. The viewfinder is a delight to use at the higher magnifications due to it's brightness- you can actually see what you are shooting instead of sometimes guessing a bit where the focus points are.

Is the brighter viewfinder due to digital boost?

Harold - I assume it is a digital boost as the EVF is on auto brightness.

I wouldn't expect any DOF differences. I suspect there is a small difference in IQ from the 5Dmk2. I really looked at the A7 as a bargain way of getting another FF camera with a plus from having an EVF rather than optical viewfinder.

Have you try to use Focus Peaking?

Thanks Predrag. Yes I've tried focus peaking - it works well at lower magnifications (around 1:1 or lower) but I've found it unnecessary at higher mags because you can easily see the detail in the viewfinder (it's so nice and bright).
