I recently posted some pictures of lights orbs, which were part of my summer light photography series. The latest in my light photography series are pictures of a local artist Willow Chandler spinning fire poi and also spinning burning steel wool. Here are some of my pictures from that session. C&C always welcome!

Those are impressive presentations, Brad. The artist performed her role beautifully and you did a superb job in capturing the scenes. Well done.clap.gif

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

I'm jealous. I love painting with light, but have only used flashlights so far. Great set! clap.gif

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I am having so much fun with light painting and its all just getting started. Sorry about the exclamation mark as a subject for the thread ...its an unfixable typo as far as I can tell.

These turned out really good thumb.gif

I've been wanting to try the burning of steel wool. I've just not found a place I can safely do it. What other lights did you use in these photos?

Thats why we went to a beach at low tide! Not much chance of starting a fire there. The other lights we used were traditional fire poi.

I'm experimenting right now with making some led poi's for another shoot.

Very impressive! I have a friend who does fire poi and fire staff. I've got a gallery of him and some friends on the beach, but they're nothing compared to yours! Wasn't really sure what I was doing :)

Must get him to try wire wool ...

The difference for me was having good lighting set up on the beach. The lighting was set up by Sean Sherstone, an uber-talented photographer who lets me hang out with him sometimes! As far as the steel wool goes, you don't get much time before it burns out but the effect while it is going is awesome!

These are awesome! They stuck in my mind after I saw them yesterday. I tried some basic night photos tonight and these memories kept popping in my mind.
