Boat-Tail

Caught this 1932 Austin 7 "Boat-Tail" at a British Car Meet here in Orlando.

Factory price was about $200 when it was sold. 34 of the 1000 produced are
still around.

Over here, in 1932, Ford was producing another classic: the "little deuce coupe".

    I didn't get a very good shot showing the boat-tail design, but here's one.

    The speckles on the coachwork and canvas are raindrops. A light rain was
    present. With front and back shots of a vehicle in shade, I should use my
    X-Rite color checker to get the colors to match, but I didn't.

    Some will associate "boat-tail" with the 1935 Auburn Speedsters.

    Very nice car shooting, Tony. I bet you didn't know how to act when you were confronted with sparse crowds and enough room to actually get some full-car shots. Well done thumb.gif

    The show was at Mead Botanical Gardens with the cars scattered out under the trees.
    It was much more spacious than the usual car show display.

    I was there at 9:00 AM, and it was raining lightly. Some exhibitors cancelled, and the
    crowds stayed away because of this. Good for photography, but not good for the
    group.

    It rained much harder the rest of the day, and the really bad news was that my
    grandson's baseball game was cancelled.

    At least I got a couple of shots out of the day.

    Let me ask a question here. With the cars under tree cover, and the very
    overcast day, I was using fill flash. No bounce light, of course, but I was
    using the diffusser plate on the flash.

    I've considered a Gary Fong Lightsphere, but dunno if it's worth $60 for
    the outdoor stuff where I can't use bounce. I don't know if the cheaper
    Stofen units are effective at this.

    Any thoughts?
