Rotated thumbnails after switching "Square Thumbnails" ON or OFF

There seems to be a bug in the 'Square Thumbnails" switch of the Gallery Settings.

To reproduce, do the following:

Start with a gallery with "Square Thumbnails" set to ON. Use "SmugMug" for the Gallery Style.

Upload a mixture of "portrait" and "landscape" orientation JPEGs that have been correctly oriented so that up is up.

Thumbnails appear in gallery correctly. Photos appear correctly when the thumbnail is clicked.

Select SETTINGS, "Gallery Settings", "APPEARANCE".

Set "Square Thumbnails" to OFF and SAVE.

Now the "portrait" orientation thumbnails are no longer oriented correctly. They have been rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise. "Landscape" orientation thumbnails are correct.

If the incorrectly oriented thumbnail is clicked, the enlarged photo is displayed correctly. It just seems to be the thumbnails that are wrong.

Turning "Square Thumbnails" back ON does not correct the problem. I have to re-upload the affected photos.

If the gallery has "Square Thumbnails" set to OFF when the photos are uploaded, the "portraits" are initially displayed correctly. However, switching "Square Thumbnails" to ON has the same effect of causing the "portrait" thumbnails to be rotated.

So, in summary, changing the "Square Thumbnails" setting causes the thumbnails for "Portrait" orientation images to be displayed incorrectly.

Hi Goughy, can you send me a link to a gallery that's exhibiting this behavior?

I tried to re-create the issue but the thumbnails rotated as we all expected them to, they were always right-side up. I can dig deeper into why the issue is happening on your galleries once you're able to send me a link to the gallery

I have just started uploading images to galleries, as a trial run. I experienced the same thing on the first gallery. Not gonna try the others.

Looks like we've found the bug and patched it! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. All future uploads should display with the proper rotation. Please let us know if you have any other issues with images not displaying with the proper rotation for the thumbnail images.

The bug fix doesn't retroactively change the rotation for images already uploaded. I've gone into both of your galleries, Goughy and Howard, and fixed your images. If I missed any galleries, please let me know and I'll fix those as well!

    Thank you!

However, I forgot to mention an oddity with this. The problem was happening only on my PC desktop, Win 7, 64. At the same time, my MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone showed the correct orientation. Weird.

    Thanks, again!
