I just shot some video on my D90 recently and it looks terrible. I set it for 1280x720, and it looks great on camera, but after I import the file (AVI) to my iPhoto library it looks like the same quality as the Zapruder film. I know the D90 isn't a video camera, but is there a relatively simple way to improve the quality?

I'm pretty sure that your settings for the import are causing the drop in video quality.

Use a card reader with your computer to read the SD card from your camera and do a file copy from the card reader into your computer.

    I agree with Ziggy.
try to playback the video on a Tv that will show you the raw quality, of the actual recording.

I would say the D90 compared to a recent iPhone is really bad for video. It's grainy and suffers from all sorts of defects in the resulting movie. If you are outside in full light maybe ok, but anything else results in crappy video.
    Get something else.
