I was fortunate to find the local Banded Demoiselles flying amongst terrestrial wild plants instead of out over the adjacent river. The bad news was that they were mostly settling on the leaves of stems of stinging nettles. Any close approach would put them to flight.

Eventually, this individual chose to perch on a nettle stem about two whorls of leaves down. I was able to approach close enough to get 1:1. I had to kneel among the densely-packed nettles and arrange the flash to neither be blocked by leaves nor given a green cast.

Olympus EM-1, Kiron 105mm, 1/250 at f11, ISO 800, twin RC, off-camera, diffused flash, hand-held.

This image is a single frame, as opposed to a stacked image.
