i shot a wedding last week that ...well...wasn't quite what i'd expected...

this is how they rolled up (15 mins late to their own wedding, no less)...

needless to say, i was a little taken aback

while the wedding was pleasant, i was having the hardest time figuring out what it was behind his ear...

i was a little shocked to see these...

what the heck did i get myself into?!?!

hahahaha!

oh well, most of the pics turned out really nice..this is prolly one of my faves from the whole night i snapped as i was driving behind them....

Couple of my favorites where I was a guest/second shooter and was taken under the wing of very nice wedding photographers. I have two weddings booked for myself this fall so hopefully they'll be as pain free and fun as these were! I hope this is not too many...

Aerial Shot of Wedding: Different Perspective
Here is one of my favorite, as shooting from the Kite was a last minute decision which paid off big time. The camera ended up taking shots throughout the ceremony, and the wind was strong enough to leave it unattended. This is one of my favorites because it shows the father walking the daughter down the aisle (Sand), as the sun was setting.

Cool! Was it taken with your one of your powershots? Was it set to go off every so often or was it triggered with a remote? FUN! (And you are brave!)

I had just gotten into Kite Aerial Photography, and was down at this wedding shooting video with my new Canon 5D Mark II, and had gotten some great shots the previous days from the air. The powershot cameras use an alternative firmware called CHDK to allow you to run scripts, shoot RAW, Bracketing, Motion Detection, etc. I launched the Kite about 30 minutes before the ceremony, and went about fiddling with my Video gear. Came back about 15 minutes before the ceremony, brought the camera down to check that the angle I was pointing at was correct, made an adjustment, relaunched, and walked away. There is a shot of the couple kissing as well, but that one isn't as good, as it happened after sunset. Now, I have 3 kites, and use a Canon G9 almost exclusively for KAP. I also use the script on the G9 with a wide angle lens adapter from an elevated position during weddings as a 3rd camera. If the pictures turn out, great. If not, no loss. Since they click about once every 5 seconds, it makes for some great time lapse movies of the ceremony as well. Sorry for the long post...

I'm really partial to this one. It is from the very first wedding I photographed. If I had to do it all over, I might do the B&W conversion differently, but I haven't touched it again because I love it the way it is.
