The smart galleries aren't removing the thumbnails of deleted images (even after waiting one day), after the images were added through a keyword rule before deleting the original photo in the original gallery.

After opening the gallery settings, 'make smarter' and clicking on 'refresh', the invalid thumbnail finally disappeared (and so has my test-case).

What's particularly bad is that the thumbnail was there, but clicking on it just showed an empty space, and opening the image in the 'original gallery' just opened that gallery which doesn't contain the original anymore. I understand that it can take some time for changes to propagate, but as it turns out, the galleries often end up in an inconsistent state, showing 'ghost' images or 'ghost' thumbnails.

I'll try to add an example as soon as I see this again.

(This isn't browser- or OS- related, but I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.2 with safari 4, firefox 3.6 and chrome)

I figured out the issue is that the galleries containing collected photos simply don't get refreshed after the originals are deleted. If I change any settings in the out-of-sync gallery, for example the sort order, it then magically re-syncs and removes the ghost images and thumbnails.
