This is a famously sharp and fast tele. I bought when I had a different view of myself and of the kind of photography I'd be doing. Haven't used in a few years and cleaning up my life.

It's not mint, been used. There is a paint chip near the base (see second shot). But the optics are perfectly clean and I have the case, tripod ring, &etc.

From looking around on ebay and Fred Miranda, I think $2700+SH is a great price. Any takers?

On the plastic (usually) of the lens mount, after removing the cap.

    A group of 6 characters - 2 letters, followed by 4 numbers.

A typical grouping (as on one of my lenses) would be UU0415. The 2nd letter gives the yr.

The current / latest use of letters has yr 2000 as O (quite conveniently, imo) - so my lens was made in '07.

    Hth.

Would you consider selling to a limey in the UK, btw :) ?

And sure, I'll sell to anyone so long as we can solve the logistics.

Holy crap that's a super cheap price!

Someone buy this, if I wasn't saving for tuition for this fall I'd take it and flip it.

Heck, now I'm even thinking of buying it to flip and put the difference into the college fund.

Lol, although I wouldn't want another one of these laying about in case it backfired on me.

I really, really wish I was in the market for this. As a past owner this is a great lens. Any sports photog should have it and I have always regretted selling it.
