Where are you trying to put this slideshow? I don't see the bio visible anywhere on your homepage which is the usual place to insert the activation code to make it show on your homepage.

I am trying to make my homepage a slideshow as it currently looks. But one that will work on my iPad...or am I crossing wires here...

It is the "about" section - if that isn't what you mean by bio - then I have no clue what then it would be. I had another Dgrin person help me with a lot of the other stuff. But there are still some issues, one with the container size that I can't seem to expand just a little on each side to make it look better. but also in the about section you'll also see what's up.

I switched it back to the fastlane slideshow when I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. think this slideshow however will be a better option...if it works

please help me oh mighty JFriend!

I can only help you if you install my slideshow and then tell me where you put it. I HAVE to see the code in your page and not working so I can figure out what's wrong. Right now, I have no idea what you did, where you put it or how to see what might have been wrong. My slideshow will work on the iPad/iPhone/Android phone.

ok Someone finally helped me on this so its up and running but:

Hey on my verticl pics it like makes them HUGE look on my show....they are so big it cuts out most of the shot....in fact its cutting off some of the landscape ones too.....like its blowing them up or something....take a look....its cutting off everything ESP the vertical shots.....look at that gallery vs the show......and still has those goofy transitions...can we get rif of those and make them just dissolve like Professional ones?

Can someone look at my PORTFOLIO gallery :
http://www.ghostwinds.com/Other/Port...3223531_fQXndd

and compare to this slide show? Why is it blowing up all my stuff and cutting it off?

Heres what me help guy thought.....
I believe you have to pre-crop your images to work with the frame if thats the route your going for....not 100% sure though...post a question in the slideshow thread about this...JFriend is always pretty quick to answer.....ask about adding the fade only transition also...I'm trying to read through the PDF to figure it out.. __________________

You turned on the superSize option and it's doing what superSize does. Supersize works best when your images closely match the size you have selected. It does not work well when you select a shape for your slideshow (500x1000 in your case) that does not match your images (vertical 3:2 images). You should turn the superSize option off or carefully only select for your slideshow that are close to the shape of your slideshow. Vertical images are NOT a good match for the shape you've chosen for your slideshow. You can read a lot more about superSize in the slideshow documentation (it even includes diagrams that show how it works).

The documentation is linked to here. Direct link to the PDF documentation is here. You remove the superSize option from your activation code which is located in your bio.

You really ought to reinstall the Adobe Reader. It appears to me like something is wrong with your Adobe Reader plug-in for IE. Or, paste the documentation link into a different browser (Firefox or Chrome or Safari). Or open the Adobe Reader app and do File/Open and paste in the documentation link.

I tried searching but couldnt find the answer.. (although I did find this so maybe it sounds like its best to have no text on the main screen)

But I am reading through this instructions before putting them on my site, and found this : "Step 3 - Format the Homepage for the slideshow
For this part of the instructions, we assume that you want to have a slideshow on your homepage and
we're going to use the Bio area of your homepage to "host" the slideshow. If you are already using
your Bio for other things and wish to have a slideshow on your homepage in addition to what you have
in your bio, that can be done, but is a more advanced installation and is beyond the scope of this
tutorial."

The thing is- I am using the bio section on my homepage to give a welcome message to people. I am new to CSS and websites but would greatly appreciate any help if its possible to leave a welcome message and add this full sized slideshow to show off my work. Or maybe its a touch too 'unprofessional' to have a welcome message ?

Thanks!

Your welcome text would be in a div just above the slideshow div. both in the bioBox, shouldn't be a problem at all.

EDIT: I figured it out! nothing like a little trial and error. THanks!!

I have another issue and I cant figure out where its coming from. Underneath my great slideshow it has a small image Ive never seen before. I did attempt to make a splash image per the guide (and it doesnt seem to have worked) so I dont know if its from that or what.

Check it on my page. Also where do I paste the splash image text, I put it both in the CSS and bio field but it does not work..

Thanks!!

You have two slideshows in your bio, one above the other. Please decide which one you want to keep and remove the other. That is what is causing the small image beneath the main slideshow (it's actually a tiny second slideshow).

I'm not sure what you mean by splash image text. If you have a splash image URL properly specified, you can also have a caption on that image. In the reference documentation, see the splashImageURL and splashCaption settings.

Thanks, that fixed it!

Sorry I was not clear at all. I was using that reference docs and wanted to input a 'splash image' for before the slide show starts up. I was just going to use my banner image (which is a png, transparent background) for it. The reference doc says to put the following:

Splash Image
For best appearance, I would suggest that you also add a splash image. A splash image is an image that
comes up immediately while the rest of the slideshow is loading. The advantage of using a splash
image is that the viewer is never left with a piece of blank screen while the slideshow fetches the first
few images for the slideshow. Instead the splash image comes up immediately. Many people use the
splash image to introduce your site and sometimes even have some text in the image. To add a splash
image, you must obtain an image URL for the desired image. The image should be in one of your
Smugmug galleries (it can be an unlisted gallery if you don't want the image to be part of your
browsable site). You should select a modest size for that image (typically the L or XL size) so that it
loads quickly and works on all size screens. Then, go to the Share button in the gallery where the
image is located, press that button, select "Get a Link" and find the L or XL size for that image. Copy
the direct link to that image to the clipboard and paste it into your slideshow options as shown below.
Remember, you need a direct link to the image, not a link to a gallery page. It should look like this
(with your own URLs of course) when you're done:
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
JF.InsertSlideshowHere({
galleryURL: "http://jfriend.smugmug.com/Portfolio/Signs/879691_ybBJZ#39801650_zYreW",
splashImageURL: "http://jfriend.smugmug.com/photos/1147964710_L69g9-L.jpg",
stretchy: "true"}
);
</script>
</html>

somewhere. Does it mean in the CSS or bio box? Or course I changed the links for my gallery link and the image URL.

Thanks!!

Click edit on your biobox and add the line with the splash image. Change the red to your image.
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">

Hmm thanks for the help, I tried edit on the bio-box, then copied and pasted what you had listed there. Then I changed the red to my image's URL. But for some reason it seems to have put a tiny slideshow beneath my big one. All well I dont mind not having a splash image thing.. no worries, thanks for the help though

Did you copy the whole thing and paste it in? Only this line below gets INSERTED in the middle of your
current code. Then change the image link.

splashImageURL: "http://jfriend.smugmug.com/photos/1147964710_L69g9-L.jpg",

Oh man, I am hopeless =). Its either way too late or Ive been smugmugged out for today; I think probably both. I copied the whole entire thing and pasted it back in. So I tried to paste only that line as you listed (splashImageURL: "http://dlindahlphotos.smugmug.com/photos/i-xhBVnCZ/0/S/i-xhBVnCZ-S.png",) but cant figure out where exactly it goes.

referring to the last html and script bits on the bio box.
I tried to put it after the </script> but before </html> but it shows on the page.

I tried after </html> too.. but it shows on the page.

I think its supposed to go before </script> and then the slideshow wont load in my other browser (so I get the true 'guest' experience)

EDIT: I figured it out!! But is there a way to center it in the very middle of the image where it flashes? Whats the html code to move it down? It right now pops up right under my text, it would be great if it were centered downwards. (sorry I am a perfectionist)

Make the png splash image bigger vertically by adding blank area top and bottom to about 450px high
with your text centered.
