Hmmmm

I've input all the required coding, set the parameters in the bio section and activated the bio on my homepage instead of the smugmug slideshow and nothing!!! I would appreciate anyone having a look and checking that there is nothing causing a conflict and suggest any changes anywhere. I really thought I could get it to work as I read all the documentation that I downloaded to read.

Cheers

All I see on your homepage is the Smugmug slideshow, not the bio area where the activation code should be. Go to homepage layout and make sure the bio is showing and the Smugmug slideshow is not. If there are still issues when you've done that, I have to be able to see your homepage in that state to know what isn't right.

John,

I've done as you have requested, activated my bio and deactivated Smugmug slideshow.

Hopefully you can see why it is not working

Thanks for your help

You are missing a comma after a bunch of the variables.
Code:
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
JF.InsertSlideshowHere({
galleryURL: "http://www.dcgphotography.co.uk/Other/slideshow/24708433_xspdZg",
splashImageURL: "http://www.dcgphotography.co.uk/photos/i-PGTbLst/0/L/i-PGTbLst-L.jpg",
splashMinDisplayTime: "2.5",
slideBorderWidth: "2",
slideBorderColor: "#FFFFFF",
superSize: "true",
superSizeAlign: "top",
transitionDuration: "2.5",
transitionList: "Fade, SlideRight, SlideLeft, Flip",
stretchy: "true"}
);
</script>
</html>
Last one does not get a comma.

Al, that now works but had to remove the three other transitions quoted, now to fix the sizing issue as it has stretched it and cut off into letterbox style....I'm getting by baby steps

Thanks for the prompt reply and help

Question...do you know how i can reduce the space between the top of the slideshow and the navbar, there is too much dead space and brings up the photo more into frame.

You can add this CSS:

Code:
.homepage #breadcrumb {display: none;}
#homepage, #bioBox, #bioBox .boxBottom {padding: 0; margin-top: 0;}
.homepage #Mymenu {margin-bottom: 0;}
The rest of the spacing is the size of your navbar. It could be made shorter if you want.

Good evening John (it is over in the UK)

Thank you once again for your help, I'll see were i can reduce the navbar size to keep it nice and tight.

just noticed that not all the other images have a black border only the splash image, checked my parameters and they look correct.

Im so pleased with this slideshow, it looks so much better.

You have the slide border color set to white which doesn't show against your white background.

Hi,
I've put the slideshow on, and I love it. Just one little thing, is there any way I can get it to resize according to the browser size. Let me explain, on the mac and ipad it looks great but for some reason on my little laptop the scroll bars appear and I can only see half of the slideshow unless I scroll down. I know its something I've probably done especially since I messed around with the code. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Thank you for posting!

I recently changed from the full screen slide show to this slide show and so far I am happy. The reason why, the full screen would sometime crop some details. While that is the nature of the full screen slide show, for now this one makes me happy!

P.S. The guide is easy enough to get along with!

Slideshow doesn't come up on my smartphone
I love the simplicity of your tutorial, easy to follow and the first page slideshow is beautiful on a computer.
However, the main reason I researched this was to find a sideshow front page that would look good on my new smartphone (I searched on "mobile" and came to your tutorial). When I scan a QR code for our URL or type in our website (www.everittphoto.com) on my Samsung Tmobile phone, the second tab, showing my portfolio galleries comes up - no slideshow!

Is there an easy fix for a beginner with code so that the slideshow, page one, comes up?

Thank you!
Nina

When I go to your site on my Android phone, I first get the default mobile Smugmug site (which is a list of galleries). If I then click the "full site" link at the bottom of that screen, I get your full slideshow on my phone. That's what Smugmug does. They don't show your customized site by default on phones - they show their own mobile version (which is pretty bad). If you want your custom site to show by default on phones, then you can go into your Account Settings and turn off the mobile-specific, non-customized site. Then, your slideshow will show by default on mobile.

Your slideshow is set to a fixed size of 400x800 so that's how big it will be regardless of screen size. If you want it to dynamically adjust to the screen size, you can remove the fixed size and enable stretchy. The slideshow documentation fully describes how to do that.

Slideshow won't center?
Hi John,

My slideshow refuses to center.
I haven't modified any code within the slideshow, and as far as I can tell, nothing in the CSS should be causing this to happen.

I've completely deleted and re-added all the code for the slideshow, and still can't get it to work on any browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera; all the latest versions) that I have on my iMac.

Could you take a look?

Thanks!

You need to add the CSS from step 3 in the tutorial and it will center up just fine.
