Funny, though, as I haven't touched the bottom javascript at all. ????????????

Any change to your site-wide customization causes all the site-wide-customization to be resent to Smugmug and resaved. Smugmug has some intermittent problem in that resaving.

Slideshow buttons?
I have been running this slideshow and love it!!! Well done!

I have one question... is there a way to add a tiny filmstrip below the slideshow or even add tiny buttons left and right to click through at a faster pace if desired?

And I thought I saw something about music to the slideshow but couldn't find it... was that just for the older version?

and again, thanks for the great work on this!

If you have the latest version of the slideshow, you can add navigation buttons. If you put your own buttons into your own HTML below the slideshow and given them appropriate ids, the slideshow will find the buttons automatically and hook up to them. The slideshow documentation describes the appropriate ids to use on the buttons and there have been several discussions here on dgrin about adding navigation buttons by the folks who have done it successfully. Keep in mind that you won't be able to whip through the slideshow super fast because the images have to get created in the appropriate custom size and then loaded as they are needed.

FYI, the latest version of the slideshow automatically supports keyboard navigation. Left/right will go back or advance and space bar will pause/restart.

The slideshow itself contains no support for music. Others have embedded their own music on the homepage and there are many discussions of that here on dgrin and even some sort of help reference on how to do it (I don't have the reference handy).

Oh, well would ya look at that, Ya thought of it all :) Very nice sir. So the cursors take a bit of time to advance to the next slide if at all it seems. Is that because the images r loading or because my transition times r too long? Is there a way to speed that up? What about cursors at the left and right of the slideshow instead of below?

For any interested in music on their site see http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?...lideshow+music. I'm still torn on if music on a site is a good thing or not but we'll see :)

Thanx jfriend!!!

Where are you trying to make the slideshow go full screen? On your homepage, it's positioned into a fixed size box with your text.

Is there a way to make the fade transition more of a snap into the next slide. I know u mention loading issues by speeding that up and it seems IE hates me regardless of the length of the transition : )

There's a slideshow option for how long the transition takes from one slide to the next (that's a different settings than the time between slides). You can make that shorter if you want. See the doc for the slideshow for how to set this.

Hi John,

I would like to try your slideshow. Before I start, I just want to make sure that I got certain basics right.

1. To begin, I should just read your very first post and "JFriend HTML5 Slideshow.

2. I should be using "Your Bio" in "Homepage Layout."

3. I upload images on a gallery and connect it to "Your Bio."

Am I correct? I don't have anything in my bio, so that's a good news. I already have a top-page slideshow which I made several months ago, but it is not working well now (images get skipped and also get stacked), so I am thinking of replacing that with yours. Thanks!

One more question, is this site made with "JFriend HTML5 Slideshow" as well? --> http://www.photoscapedesign.com/

http://www.kphotographic.info/

You have it conceptually correct. If you go to the download page (linked to in the first post of this thread), you will find a link to the tutorial. Read that and simply follow the step-by-step instructions there.

Thank you, John. I will go to your download page then.

I have one question. This site, http://www.photoscapedesign.com/ , was listed in SmugMug's Homepage Slideshow Tutorial ( http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/3624147 ). It is supposed to be with flash but I don't think it is. Can you tell if it is made with "JFriend HTML5 Slideshow" as well? I tried to figure it out by looking into "view source" but I was not able to. I would like to find out.

That page is made with Smugmug's built-in flash-based slideshow.

I got the slideshow running wonderfully on my main page as well as my separated bio page (initiated by the multi-homepage hack). But I have ran into an issue, which seems opposite of the others I ran across reading page by page through this thread.

I want this slideshow to show on my gallery page. I have looked into the FAQs, how-tos and this thread extensively, trying each of the manners of editing. Yet to no avail.

Is there a new code in the latest release that I am not seeing or that does not work with the previous instructions. I even tried adding:

Quote:
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
JF.InsertSlideshowHere({
galleryURL: "http://www.recasperstudio.com/Other/gallery/19667359_dgRwwL#1544486281_6hPn5Pt",
splashImageURL: "http://www.recasperstudio.com/photos/i-LxgVJCq/0/L/i-LxgVJCq-L.jpg",
stretchy: "true"}
);
</script>
</html
... to the Gallery description, but the html fails to work and the text actually shows when I navigate to that page. I even have Clean turned on in the Gallery Settings to remove the description, yet it remains.

Big virtual hug-it-out, to any one that can help. ;^)

Site: www.recasperstudio.com

EDIT: My apologies if this has been recently addressed and I simply overlooked it. Eyes are bleeding after reading through walls of text. Might have missed a crack.

What is the link to your galleries page where you want a slideshow to show?

Thanks, John. http://www.photoscapedesign.com/ runs so smoothly with my iPad and iPod Touch, so I had assumed it was not Flash based. I am looking for a slideshow that works also on "i" devices. Sorry to ask you a question not related to your HTML5 slideshow here, but I am having a trouble with my home page slideshow which used to run so smoothely on various computer browsers and also on "i" devices. SmugMug's help desk is trouble shooting this for me but no luck so far (it just stopped working and shows only one image now.) So, I am unwillingly looking into different slideshow options.

When you say, "Smugmug's built-in flash-based slideshow, " do you mean the one that uses "bio-box" or the slideshow in "Homepage Layout" ?

I have contacted this site owner but no response yet. I really can't afford to have my top-page slideshow stop running too long, so I just wanted to get info from you. Thank you.

The Smugmug slideshow in homepage layout is flashed-based in most browsers, but automatically uses a simple HTML5 version on iDevices. Last I checked, it doesn't use HTML5 on non-iDevices (like Android or Blackberry phones) which is a shame.

The custom Smugmug slideshow you put in your own Bio does not automatically switch to HTML5 - it's always flash, even when flash isn't supported on the local platform. My slideshow is always HTML5.

It's a simple matter of some CSS to make a bio-based slideshow show up on the right copy of your homepage, but I can't advise you what that CSS would be without seeing a working copy of the homepage copies you do and don't want it to show on - that's why I asked you for a link to the galleries page.

Sidenote to the above gallery link: Would a copy and pasting of certain code that I have on the site help? Let me know anything I can do to assist the assistance ;-). I'd also like to note that I do have the "multi-page hack" setup. But from what I am reading, most people are complaining that is actually puts it on all the pages. Sadly this is not whats happening for me and pretty much the opposite of the usual result.

Hi John, Thank you for your response. I had posted on this matter on a new thread several days ago, but nobody responded. SmugMug Help Desk is trouble shooting it for me, but as I had mentioned, no luck so far.

My toppage slideshow (http://www.kphotographic.info/) was not made with the bio box. I just uploaded images onto a gallery and used "Homepage Layout" option of "slideshow." It always worked great on my iPod Touch, and iPad 2 very smoothly. This was actually the reason why I chose SmugMug for my business site.

Now it is not working for some unknown reason. So I found this "http://www.photoscapedesign.com/" on Dgrin's tutorial as an example of "Bio Box" slideshow. Bio Box slide shows are not supposed to run on "i" devices (I tried and made one by myself last night and it would not load on "i" devices) but this site particular site runs so smoothly on various browsers and also all on my "i" devises. That's why I was trying to figure it out which slide show this person was using.

My site -> http://www.kphotographic.info/ (Splash and 12 images are supposed to show up but it's not working any longer.) The gallery link to this homepage slideshow is --> http://www.kphotographic.info/Other/...427876_pK7LhQW
