Images of Italy
Hello - I'd like to share a few images from our recent trip to Italy (primarily the Tuscany region and a few days in Rome). 10 years ago, My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon in Italy, so to celebrate her successful battle against cancer in 2011, I took her back. Needless to say, she loved it.

C&C appreciated.

#1 - "Ladies of Pienza"

#2 - "Waiter of Monks" (The dining hall at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore)

#3 - Abbey of Sant'Antimo

#4 - Fruits of Montepulciano

#5 - Pink Skies over San Gimignano

#6 - "Everywhere in Tuscany"

#7 - "Bruno Haunting"

#8 - "Interior Aflame"

#9 - Pantheon Outward (normally this area is packed with 1000+ tourists, but not at 4:00am! Being completely alone at the Pantheon was magical)

again on your images.

and also, sorry to hear of the bad bad word, needless to say I'm happy of the outcome for your wife.

Thank you very much. I really like #8 as well.

The lens on #9 is the EF-S 10-22. 8 second exposure at f22, ISO 200.

I had a lot of fun setting up that shot, trying to align the light-bursts just right while remaining centered in the hall of the pantheon and so forth. As I mentioned earlier, being the sole human for nearly an hour at such an historic location was a phenomenal experience. I would sit in a spot for 5-10 minutes in awe and silence, then setup a shot, then move on. I mean, just check out how peaceful, yet intense, this is for the middle of Rome...

someday I'll get a T/S lens.

Beautiful. I just don't have the discipline to be up at 4am with a camera and tripod, especially after a typically Italian restaurant meal the night before.

San Gimignano + the Pantheon
Only a few towers bring back memories of how hard it was to photograph Italy's medieval Manhattan. Nobody can explain San Gimignano, it has to be seen.

Too many towers, and no obvious great angles for capturing enough towers in a single frame.

Same 2001 trip, and I was finally going to locate whatever was lit up in Rome. Should have gone to the Pantheon, given that incredible shot you took.

Great shots - and kudos for getting up at 4am (or did you just not go to bed? )
Like someone else said a big Italian meal would make me sleep well, although it's usually the "1 or 2" glasses of wine that does me in
