The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Peregrine 2012 Season - Part 2
I received an email telling me that the Peregrine were back. They had changed the location of their nest site which was very hard to locate. They are now some 250-300 feet up in quite an obscure location. You have to know where to look to stand a chance of spotting them.

I returned in late May and to my delight, the male had found a new partner and they had produced 3 chicks. On my first visit, the chicks had white downy feathers and were grouped together on a ledge.

The chicks were beginning to lose the down, revealing the feathers beneath.

One of the adults was standing guard on a perch near to the nest site......

whilst the other was hunting......

Not far from the nest site was the plucking station and larder.

Part 3 will show the progress in June and will posted in the next few days.
