Playing with B & W
I've been trying various methods for converting color to B & W. To my eye, using Camera RAW gives the best results. Anyone have a better technique?

Thanks!

Lots of people on this forum (and elsewhere) like the Silver Efex plugin from Nik software. I think it gives you much more creative control than does Camera Raw.

I like the conversion, but the clarity/sharpness seems a little extreme.

That's interesting. I did slide the clarity slider over quite a bit. But I didn't change the sharpness at all. What, specifically, looks out of whack?

And I really appreciate your comments.

It looks like you used the clarity slider too much ;) If that's how you want it to look, that's fine, but females, in my opinion, deserve their soft and beautiful faces to be rendered softly and beautifully. If you want to stretch the limits of edge contrast, try it on well worn hands.
