Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

The light is really present, but the face strikes me as strange...did you do some adjusting there specifically? It's a nice image, though, Roger. Hope Lexington is treating you well...my favorite city from my home state!

closing down the aperture would make the model pop of the background a bit more.

The pose looks a bit awkward there is a doorway coming out of your models head, the background could be blurred more to make your subject pop.
On the bright side your model look comfortable in the face and you got a nice look from the model.
Next time use a bigger aperture, pick a noncompeting background, try to make your models face the brightest part of the photo (that is where the eye goes first).
We all need more practice :).
