Velvet Buck
I haven't had a lot of opportunity to pick the camera up in the past couple of years, but I managed to take a detour during a business trip to Montana.

I traveled north out of Missoula to the National Bison Range and captured this Mule deer buck in velvet one afternoon.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I love the first one, and agree with Harry (naturally) that the light is beautiful. Best, Pam

Harry and Pam, thanks for your comments. It was a thrill to get up on this guy and get these images with the velvet all a glow with the backlighting.

Mike and Randy, thanks for taking the time to view and comment.

Randy, this isn't meant to be critical, just a little info to help identify Mule deer and White tails. The main differences are the obvious tail and the antlers. The antlers of a mule deer branch off of the main beam and fork. A Whitetail has all the points coming off of the main beam.
