[BUG FIXED] Navigation Menu - All items require links

edited August 16, 2013 in SmugMug Customization
In the navigation menu (using ZOE) every item requires a link. If I leave the link location empty it will default to http:\\\ thus giving me an error.

When nesting navigation the top level item will often not have a link.

I want to turn off links for some of the menu navigation. Having a "none" option in the 'Settings>Menu> Links >Link To' seems reasonable.

For example I have menu items:
Archive
>>>>>>Events
>>>>>>>>>>>2013
>>>>>>>>>>>2012
>>>>>>>>>>>2011
etc...

I don't want the 'Archive' item to have a link associated with it.

Help please, and thanks for the new site.
Thanks,
David

I clicked in the link box to clear it and left it blank. They all work here, "no click".

Ther is no 'link box'. There is an 'URL' box available when I select 'Custom URL' from the 'Link To' selection dropdown.
Could you be more specific please. I'm obviously missing something here.

    From a Hero:
Thanks for contacting SmugMug. Unfortunately, to my knowledge this is not something that can be accomplished with CSS, sorry! I see how it would be beneficial to have top-level nav bar items NOT link anywhere, and we have logged your email as a feature request for this. We'll see if this can be implemented in the nav bar content block in the future. Thanks for passing along the suggestion!

If there's anything else we can do to help, please let us know. Thank you, and have a great day!

So there is no way to turn off a link in the navigation bar setup.
    hmm...

With all the awesomeness of creating a nav bar w/o having to code it all SM really dropped the ball on this one... I cannot unveil this site or my personal site until I fix this somehow.

Thanks for the feedback. This is indeed a limitation in the existing menu content block that will be addressed as soon as possible.

I have not unveiled so I don't think you can see it.

None of the years are clickable in the first drop. On this page a # is added to the end of the link.

See that at bottom corner of browser when menu hovered.

When I open the link tab and look at 2013 I see this for the URL.

Just did a quick test... your method works on the nested levels, just not on the main level or top level of the flyouts.ne_nau.gif
That's about the dumbest thing I ever heard...

I left the drop URL blank and added this URL with ending # to the top level. Both work.

Seems to work for no click with the # at the end.

OK, now I got it... is was putting /# at the end instead of just #

No I don't... it just takes me back to home page if I use www.onbroadwaydancers.com#

My link was not the homepage but somewhere deep in with the #. Maybe that makes a difference.

5 days later. Still no fix? This has got to be an extremely easy solve on your end. EVERY other platform I've ever used has "container for other links" or "not clickable" as an option.

I can't unveil my site until this is fixed. It's a total deal breaker. Currently sitting twiddling thumbs...

So if I just leave the link box blank I get the dead link?

    Same Problem
How was this fixed? I have the same problem. My menu structure is:

    Galleries
    Landscape
    Portaits
    Family

And I can't get the Galleries link to lead me down to the other menu items. I tried clicking in the custom url field to clear it out and I get the /# at the end of the page link when you try to click on it and it does nothing.

    Thanks

Did you indent the sub/drop Galleries links?
