generating download gallery links takes AGES

So ever since the new smugmug was announced, its been taking a long time for my download gallery links to come through on email/be generated.
I asked for help from SM support to reset a couple which they were able to do, but its still causing me (and my clients) problems.
I'm guessing its all part of the increased load on the servers, but even so, I get the sense that they just get 'stuck' somewhere and never get resolved without intervention...
anyone else?
