Baltimore - Power Plant & Fireworks
Last night I went with some friends to Baltimore to eat dinner at Sabatino's in Little Italy. We arrived a bit early (10 o'clock reservations so we could see fireworks in the inner harbor) and decided to walk down to powerplant for a minute.

I wish I had had more time, but I'm for sure going back to B-more another night to get some more shots in and around the inner harbor.

So, we walked back to Sabatino's and enjoyed a wonderful dinner, but noticed that it was pouring down rain. So, our waitress invited us to stay until midnight and celebrate with them. We were the only customers still there and got treated to party hats and champange. The fireworks started while we were inside and we could see, hear, and FEEL them inside the building. It was quite amazing. We hurried outside and stood onthe street corner watching the fireworks and enjoying the company of some other spectators. A building blocked much of the view, but the fireworks were still spectacular. I can't wait until fourth of July. I've been invited down to the Outter Banks, where a friend has a beach house that views TWO professional firework displays and tens of personal "home" fireworks. It's going to be GREAT!!

Here are a couple shots from little Italy (also, it starting raining again a few minutes before the fireworks were over so we were pretty happy we didn't have to hike all around the inner harbor in the rain).

I walked down the street a bit to get the light banner from Little Italy in the shot:

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Great fireworks shots! I've never managed to be able to juggle a good composition/exposure with the patience usually required in crowds

So how did the building get blurry in your shot, without the fireworks being blurry as well?

Thank you! I wish the rain had let up earlier so we'd've gone around the building. Oh well, there's always July 4th! The only thing I can think of for the building to be OOF is that maybe I hit the shutter before the firework went off and when I did the building caught the blur but the firework, since it had yet to explode didn't. (The fireworks were 2 second exposures @ ISO 200 and 160mm and F9).
