Can Smugmug help us here?

The Short story. We need a Smugmug Pro account which can do Watermarking across images so nobody steals the images and puts them as their own, you know watermarking like bit logo in the center of image, or side of image etc., etc.,
Maximum files uploaded/month = 1GB, max BW = 12-15GB.
Average usage will be more like 100MB of images/month with 3-5GB BW
This is near term estimates. In the past year or so if we were on smugmug we would have added around 1GB.

The Long story:
Buy a Pro account? Well its not that simple, so lemme explain.
I am a moderator on a big forum, with around 10,000 member, around 1000 of them fairly active. This is not a photography forum, but a cars forum, running on Vbulletin. So occasionaly some members take a spy shot, catch a street scene etc., and post it on imageshack etc., and link it to the board. Sometimes they just post some automobile photography or general image etc., in group meets etc.,
Of late some rare spy shots have been posted on other forums with copyright messages in the corner removed and credit taken by th entity who plagiarized.

So that left us scratching our heads. We took a quick sizeup of such images, and figured that they would total to maximum of around 1GB every few months. Since we have our own server we though we would allow image attaching in vbull, run imagemagick etc., or gd for watermarking and host the images ourselfs.
This would also insure that the images do not vanish after a year as they do on imageshack.
But when we think about this, the question comes to mind is CPU load. Our server is loaded due to large number of posts, and we have just 15GB free which could get filled up in 3 years or so.
Moreover this could mean upgrading to larger HDD etc., etc., and overall slowing down of the site.
So the idea came up of using a smugmug like site.
We don't really have very ambitious BW requirements or disk space requirements, since we are not a photography forum therefore number of photographs are limited.
What we require are
1. Bold watermarking capability.
2. API posting. The member just clicks on an attach image button, and through our board interface via backen API calls the image gets uploaded on the smugmug account. The board members will not have the passoword for our account, it will all be transparent to them. They will think they are uploading to the board. Backend it all goes to TBHP. After uploading the M or L image will be displayed with watermarks!
3. Backups etc., Images should be safe(I guess no need to even discuss this )

So there you see.
Our BW and disk space requirements are quite modest as compared to other pro users, but we really need good API kinda support, where the backend just handles it all and the user is none the wiser.

So to cut the long story short, Is smugmug for us,
Is there a way in Vbulletin where we say "attach image" and the image gets uploaded to smugmug, watermarked etc., etc.,
To me it looks like some complex API stuff is needed.
