I am a slow learner at keyboard shortcuts, but I'll give these a try!

Question for Andy:
Did you start using Tabs in Safari yet? If not, get on it!

You can find all the settings in the Preference window of Safari. Its the best way to keep 20+ window organized.

Here's a meta-hint:

In Safari, or Finder, or Mail or most Apple apps, open Help (in the Help menu!), and type in shortcut. You'll see all kinds of pages on shortcuts to make your life easier.

You know I had to switch to OSX so quickly, there's a lot I'm not up on, and now they want to introduce Tiger.... geesh!

But what the heck are tabs in Safari?

I haven't gotten far in my OSX book yet.. just finished reading about how to mouse... LOL

You can enable them in the Safari prefs. Many windows in one. Very cool. And you can set a folder of bookmarks to all open at once. I do that with mac news. They all open, and then I browse them at leisure.

OK, here's nother unsolicited tip.

The Dock. Cool. Snazzy. Maybe a little too snazzy?

Here's my tip. You can access all of the dock prefs by right clicking on the divider. If you just plain ol' click on the divider, you can drag and resize your dock.

Here's what I recommend: turn off hiding and magnification. It's just too hard to chase the dock around, and all the icons just get too squirrely. Then place the dock where you want it (left, bottom, or right) and make it as small as you can (and still see it well enough for it to be useful.)

That's it. Just take some of the bells and whistles off of your dock, and make it unobtrusive.

It's fun, but I truly believe that it's not really useful and is bad UI design.

Just my opinion!

Here's a couple more:

How do you make an app launch at startup?

Go to your System Preferences>Accounts>Startup Items. You may see stuff in there that you have no idea what they are. That's OK. You can add any app.

Aside from LaunchBar (mentioned earlier), one of my favorite startup items is DesktopCalendar.

Enjoy!
