I didn't see a thread here, so let me be the first! We went up to Fishers, Indiana, just northeast of Indianapolis, for the eclipse. That's an 8-hour drive from home, drove up Sunday - I'm not an astrophysicist, but we did stay at a Holiday Inn Express! We watched from the hotel parking lot with a couple dozen other folks. We had some high, thin cirrus clouds that really didn't affect our shots. This is the second eclipse that I've experienced totality - I was out for the 2017 show as well - and it is an absolutely amazing sight to see!
Great work, John. That first compilation is the very best of that genre that I've seen. Kudos to you.

A quick and dirty early edit of one of the 2024 totals from the Lawrenceville-Vincennes Airport. Still looking through many hundreds of bracketed exposures. AFAIK, none were OOF, thank goodness.

Sad news about JAG
Joyce's daughter Julianna sent us this message:
"On February 23rd, 2024, my mom, Joyce has gone home to be with our God. She has been able to celebrate the best birthday party in her honor up in Heaven with Jesus, my dad John, and everyone who has gone on before her. Thank you everyone for being her friends! We will be holding a celebration of life ceremony on March 21st, 2024. We will have a live stream available on Facebook during the ceremony. A public post will be made on Facebook with the details. She loved you guys very much and being able to share her passion in photography with you all brought her great joy."
I am sure you are all aware of the tremendous contributions Joyce made to Dgrin, and especially to the Challenge forums. She was a pleasure to work with and will be sorely missed by all of us.
Re: Sad news about JAG
This is indeed sad news. I am grateful for the energy and creative expertise that Joyce shared with us on Dgrin over the years. She joined in early 2008 and stepped back about a year ago to focus her energies elsewhere. So that's about 15 years in which she was involved with Dgrin in one way or another!
For those who might want to revisit some of JAG's photography - as one way to celebrate her life - here is a link to her photo galleries.
Re: A few Galápagos Wildlife shots
Thank you David_S85,
Here are some more:
Frigatebird gliding above our boat:
Galápagos Penguin (Isla Bartolome):
Sally Lightfood Crab:
I learned something about Macro that trip: it's harder than it looks and requires some skill that I have not yet garnered. So much to learn!
Red-Billed Tropicbird (Punta Suárez, Española):
Waved Albatross:
Sea Lions (Isla Seymour Norte):
A few Galápagos Wildlife shots
It's been a looooong time, DGRIN, too long in fact. Over a decade? Good heavens! I got out of the DSLR business for a while, so I've come with a peace offering for old times' sake. This place always had the nicest, most generous people.
From a somewhat recent trip, with a borrowed EOS R1 and nothing but beauty and perfection to point it at.
Yellow Warbler (Isla Santa Cruz):
Galápagos Land Iguana and the Galápagos Large Ground Finch (Isla Seymour Norte):
Blue-Footed Booby (Isla Seymour Norte):
Marine Iguana (Punta Suárez):
Greater Flamingo (Punta Cormorant):
