Hello,

I know for the most part, duck pics are rather ho-hum. But I liked the compositon of this, they actually seemed to be posing.

Comments welcome...
Regards,
Kevin

Actually I think this is really nice. Exposure is spot-on, the light looks great, and I like the composition.

Got the dreaded red X again - I had to load the image url into my browser bar so I could see it. ne_nau.gif

You know, your red X problem is wierding me out. I think I might be on to something. I noticed the URLs you're using to reference the images are looking like this.

    http://i.pbase.com/u8/keving54/upload/37371108.IMG_1111web.jpg

I browsed your gallery and found this duck image and the URL was this:

    http://www.pbase.com/keving54/image/37371108

I think you are right-clicking on the displayed image and copying the address from "Properties".

Try this approach the next time you post: After uploading your pictures and moving them to whatever gallery you want, browse to the picture and select whatever size you want to display it as. Copy the address out of the address bar and insert it into the post but add the ".jpg" at the end of it (no .jpg, no display). Doing so gives me this (and it seems to work):

    Thanks Phil,

I'll give that a try - the reason I right clicked on the photo and selected 'properties' and then copied the url is because that was the instructions here.
Plu, I just got feedback to sandwich the url with tags, which doesn't seem right to me, does it? I can't imagine everyone is sandwiching their picture posts with these tags. Thanks for your investigation and suggestion! Kevin

Yea, that's the way I do it. There's also a button on the editor button-bar (yellow square with mountains in it) that will wrap your URL with the tags. Glad to help!

    Hey Kevin,

A good pic is never ho hum. You did an outstanding job on a very difficult exposure. The white ducks against the dark water is not an easy shot to pull off. The ducks aren't blown out and you also caught some of the water movement and the reflections are great. clap.gif

The comp is a bit too centered. I would have zoomed out a tad and placed the ducks more towards the upper right as they are moving towards the lower left.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks Harry,

I agree about the centering - actually the version I have that I printed IS slightly different and not as centered, and it looks better. I guess I never went back and changed the web version.
Actually I metered for the ducks, and I needed to bring up the shadows and the relections slightly in photoshop.
    Thanks for the helpful comments!

    Kevin
