Hihi folks!

Great to be back in the game. Had a camera loss (stolen) so I haven't really been around. Dont think I havent been reading daily though! Great submissions for challenge 16. Cant wait to see the grief Andy goes through trying to pick a winner. All wonferfull submissions.

Since the digital loss, its really given me a chance to get to know 35 a little better. I've learned to focus my time on a single shot rather than snapping off multiples untill I'm happy with my compo. Worked out for the best for sure. Now I'm ready to step back in and harass you people daily. This is great little community and I cant wait to get back into the challenges. Also great that we have some moderators/hosts who can help us along the way. I've been sitting and watching from the outside for the past 4 months, and I've seen so much progression in everyone, its just awesome. Lynn especially, you've really taken some big steps in photography. Okok, enough babble, onto the help needed.

Think its grey market? This ebayer sticks to camera sales, and judging by the 100% positive feedback rate, I'm guessing one or two of those people have to know if they had recieved an asian version of their though-to-be american purchase. I'm confident its not GM, but you cant ever be positive about it. They say nothing about the cameras birthplace, they simply say 'Warranty Included'. They also say they are based out of the midwest (not brooklyn wax :D ) Well, give it a look and tell me what you guys think.
Bad idea?

Glico-Pokey only has 7 feedbacks from buyers. They bought 5 shirts and 2 Gameboys. Not a single camera.

So personally, I wouldn't buy from him. I'd rather buy from someone with more feedbacks who's sold more camera gear. The other thing I'll be curious to see, FreeUps, is whether or not the winning price is a bargain. The camera gear I've tracked on eBay has gone for relatively high prices.

I've seen better bargains in the classifieds of photography forums, where there's also a better chance that self-policing will keep the crooks out. The members on Fred Miranda, for example, are quick and merciless about exposing ripoffs.

Sorry to hear you were ripped-off, man. That sucks. :cry That Sony f828 sounds like a great camera, it's a virtuoso instrument in Andy's hands, look like a great camera to get.

Oh, and WRT to gray market, I don't see US Warranty listed. If you decide to bid, send the seller an e-mail first and ask them. How they respond will reveal a lot about them.
    Sid.

Scary! You have to ask the question to the seller. Save their email response for the just -in-case situation. Don't let the time frame rush you into your decision. You can pick this camera up from buydig.com for $789.99. I know that's a significant difference - BUT......

You may want to register at fredmiranda.com. I've seen a few 828's pass through there recently as people upgrade to a DSLR. That is a good forum, and people there are honest. You may also find a better deal as people buy extra memory sticks & batteries that will not work on a DSLR & will include them in the 828 package.

Gotta find some barter websites and see how far I can take this trading thing. Do we have any photographers/speaker entusiasts in the house? ne_nau.gif

    An F828 here on DG
    FreeUps.

I've done a fair amount of buying through e-bay... and have done quite well. Did you notice though that one of our Digital Grinners is selling an F828?
I have copies of all of his photos and the camera looks quite nice. I just am not sure if I want the F828 or want to go in a little deeper... So...I copied and pasted in his post for you...

Thanks a bunch Alt. Appreciate the help from everyone! I'm definately going to keep my eyes open for more forum listings through private sellers.

Dave, I'm still trying to shoot for the 4 year waranty 828, guess I'm second in line right now, but hopefully that will change. Good looking out on that one!
