Help with structure/hierarchy

I must not be the brightest bulb in the package. I migrated my legacy site. But I am lost in setting up the structure/hierarchy needed to navigate around the site, so all I have is a homepage and nothing else.

Do I need to manually created the Galleries, categories, subcategories, folders I have already in the legacy site?

How do I make sure I don't missing anything?

I had hoped to re-structure, but was told in this forum that if I changed anything that did not mirror my legacy site, I'd break the navigation on the legacy site.

I sent a email to the Help desk asking these questions, but never even got an acknowledgement that the e-mail was received, never mind a reply. Figure the Help desk were and are up to their armpits in problems, and I'm a bit far down the pecking order, not being a Pro.

I've looked at the Help pages, but didn't see any answer to my questions. Hoping someone here can set me on the correct path

TIA

Go to this or any other category page on the new site. BTW, these are now just folders.

If it is a blank page do this.

    Click "customize" > "customize site"
In the flyout on the right highlight "all folders"
Hover navigation below to expand it
Drag a "folders, Galleries and Pages" out to the page.
Click wrench on top left of new folder
For "select from" select "current location"

You now have a box that will show all sub-cats (sub-cats), galleries and special pages on all folder pages.

Thanks Alan. You're a big help. (as you have been seversl times over the past years.

I seem to have the same structure on my new SM site as I have on the legacy. Not liking the visual, but figure I can play with that. If I restructure before unveiling, will I screw up navigation on my legacy site? Or would I be better to finish the cosmetics, unveil and then restructure?

    Again, thank you.

Everything will work, but new galleries created in new Smugmug will be put into a special folder.
