Questions Unanswered

A couple of times I have posted questions regarding customization and a couple of bugs on my particular site - and I get no help! I go on about my business and put it off to come ask again and well, its been months since I've had time.
I've read many times how people always get fantastic help and get their questions answered here - I have yet to get that.
More or less I have some questions that I need answered. My time is nearing an end for the year on here and honestly if I can't get these teency little bugs and (very likely) simple issues corrected, I may just have to look elsewhere to get my needs fulfilled.
I know there are ten zillion threads on here - likely asking the SAME thing over and over.
Regardless, I'd REALLY appreciate some help here. I like smugmug and don't want to go anywhere - but ya know... if I'm paying I'd like to get what I need from it. KWIM?

Firstly sometime back my banner began resizing itself. It used to depend on how I sized it before I would upload it, now no matter WHAT I do, its tiny. It does not fit and looks bad IMO.
I do remember Mike Lane responding to me and asking me to share my codes, I did, he said they were horrible. (I copied someone else). That is as far as that thread ever went. :dunno
I still have a page header that doesn't fit and is too small for the page.

Next, I wanted to know if I can link the galleries from smugmug to a flash site. I need some nice pages of text with information about services and sessions etc... that I cannot get here, however most other sites have strict limits and I really like the freedoms I have here... How better to solve that issue than to have both?
With some of the improvements that I think have been done to smugmug recently is there a way to add text pages w/out another site?
I currently am using the journal style for what I need, but it is not sending out the right message to my clients.

I am also sure there is a very simple fix it thread somewhere, but I am SO behind the times - how do I get rid of that hideous green text????

At the moment that is what I can come up with. I know there were a couple more, but those are really the most pressing isues I have at the moment.

I'd sincerely appreciate some help here.
Thank you!!!!

    I am truly surprised you didn't get the help you needed. I have always got quick answers.

    The "hiddeous green text" is easy to get rid of, at least it was with my pro account. I just did this>>

    To change all the green-on-black text to red, just paste this into the css section:
    .title { color: red; }

    If you want yellow it's

    .title { color: yellow; }

    .....and so on.

    I found it by clicking help on my own site. As for your header problem, that's beyond me, especially if you copied some bad code. But the help section shows how to do a new header, which I did, and it worked great.

    Good luck, and I hope a bigger computer geek than me comes to your rescue.

    I'm sorry to hear that. We answer thousands of questions. Yours, too. Stay up on your threads, reply to them, there's been near zero cases of people getting zero help. I can promise that.

    what size do you want it? Please be VERY specific.

    In my FAQ, sticky in the customization forum, look for "HTML Page" on the list...

    So, regarding an HTML only page - you can serve up nearly ANYTHING imaginable in HTML from a SmugMug gallery description and HTML. And we'll help you.

    I'm off for the remainder of the week but the fine Volunteers here I'm sure will help sort you out.

    Be VERY specific in what you want when you ask.... The more specific you are, the more specific help you'll get deal.gif

    I'm SURE you'll get sorted out - but you've got to help us help you :D

    Allow me to be more specific
    Any thread I've started where I needed help. If someone else had people going and I happened to pop on at the right time, sure. Just a link in the right direction would have been fantastic, I am not asking anyone to hold my hand.
    (Found some of the reply a tad tacky.)

    I tried to do a search using search function and it was not working for me. So I chose to start yet another thread to see if someone could point me in the right direction.

    I can only be so specific when I only know so much. I can say what i'd like for it to do and if someone woudl point me in the right direction I'm game. I don't KNOW any of this stuff, I may have said on some of those threads you found that I thougth HTML was something your computer did FOR you, I didn't ever know you were supposed to KNOW it!

    I am definitely not shy about asking questions. My subscriptions stopped and never received anymore replies. Hence the reason that I had no clue there were more replies to some of those.

    The one I never came back to, actually....

    "I'm going to have to sift through that thread. That is just simply a bad example of how to do a header. I've got to go, but I'll help you out with this later."
    He stayed busy I guess and I wasn't going to bug since he had offered for me to hire him before. I would LOOOOVE to do that, but that costs $$$ and people fix their own sites all the time, I shoudl be able to as well.

    Anyway - I have not had time to sit here and sift through post after post, I was already up until 1:30 this morning looking for what I did find.
    I appreciate your sending me to the correct links - hopefully that wil work.

    My banner, I just want it to fit the page. Plain and simple. It shrinks. At the time I was able to sit here and work on this stuff, there were no examples in help etc... It was "find a site you like and copy then customize" so I did.

    I will schedule some time to see if these things will help me out.

    Thank you Andy and Jeffro!

    If it does not help then - I guess "Mike are you expensive?"ne_nau.gif

    OK, I'll take stab at it. First of all, a link to your site would help. Now, for a banner in general to force it to stick to a size, in the image tag you need to add a height and width directive. So if, for example, your graphic were 80 pixels high and 600 pixels wide, you would put in image. See my site & view source to see what I mean.

    I just got started here & spent at least a week or two digging through the FAQ stickies and blogs. I learned a whole lot of the quirks of how to get things done on a Smugmug site through those.

    Hmmm...you are very right. That WOULD help huh? Thought it was in my signature....

    It must be the code I have copied, I used to be able to adjust the size that way, but now it does nothing.

    Thanks!

    better to do this in CSS

    I'm a total bonehead when it comes to all this, so this is a little like the blind leading the blind-- but I know for me, with multiple headers on my site, it was recommended that I use CSS, not html. I did it this way (with a whole lot of help from Andy and Mike):

    #myLogo {
    display: none;
    }

    #myLogo {
    display: block;
    background: url(http://yourname.smugmug.com/photos/xxxxx.jpg);
    height: 135px;
    width: 750px;
    }
