Osprey sequence

Ospreys are a semi-nemesis bird for me because I can never seem to get good photos of them although I see them quite often. After photographing the whooping cranes, I headed out into Aransas Bay where the ospreys were hanging out looking for the plentiful fish. At one point, the boat operator and I tried to sneak up on this osprey. Of course, it took off, but I was able to fire off a few frames. It kept its eye on me the whole time.

Cool set. In that second image it looks like he's saying "hey you getting this, buddy?" The skewed horizon in the first one is a little distracting.

Sweeeeet! :D That's about all the luck I have had with ospreys too! The one time I got one to sit still for me, the sun disappeared, forcing my hand with the flash... Good shooting Stephen!clap.gif

    Stephen,

I don't think you have a 'semi-nemesis' bird. You've about covered everything that's flown into or across the great state of Texas. :D

    Nice ospreys!

Thanks everyone and Bud, there are still so many birds of Texas to get that I am going to be at this for quite some time. :D

Good set Stephen thumb.gif I love the eye in the second capture.

Ospreys are not an easy capture or exposure. You really need good light to get a decent capture.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry. You are right about catching them in good light too. That is another problem with them but nothing like my kingfisher problem. rolleyes1.gif

I know what you mean about Osprey being hard to shoot! But you did a good job on these. Nice sequence!
