Hi,

I have 3-5 days at my disposal in mid-february and want to go on a photo trip (landscapes or street are my focus)

- Would prefer to stay east of the mississippi
- Would prefer warm as I live in NJ
- I plan on flying
- Photography is the primary goal so I can go to a city or a beach

I am leaning towards New Orleans but any suggestions welcome.

It's west of the Mississippi but, if you've never been there, ya oughta go to Arizona--specifically the Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon area. You've never seen red rock country like this! You're best to fly into Pulliam airport in Flagstaff, drive to the SNOWBOWL while you're there and get some awesome mountain shots, then shinny on down HWY 89A down Oak Creek Canyon and on to Sedona.

Keep your eyes open for little river OTTERS if you loiter by Oak Creek any!

Thanks Corehead...I love that part of the country and have been there....since I have 3-5 days I wanted to concentrate on an area I have not been without travel taking up too much time. Thanks for the post!

I'd suggest Asheville NC, Charleston SC, or Savannah GA. All are interesting cities with lots of architectural photo ops. If I only had 3-5 days and wanted to get out of NJ, I'd probably opt for Savannah.

Me, I'm tired of the warm weather in South Texas so I'm heading to Maine this weekend! :D

I know you would prefer east of the Mighty Miss, but I always recommend Puget Sound, in Washington. From Seattle to Neah Bay. The peninsula is unbelievable.

I'll move this thread to Locations! I understand asking Landscapers where to go, but more people will see this in the Locations forum. thumb.gif

Oooh, Savannah is a great suggestion. Actually, it would probably give you both good city and beach options, because Tybee Island and Hilton Head are both so close.

The Smokey Mountains jump to the top of my list. The Cherokee reservation in N.C. has so many options you could fill a month.

Hit Rock City, maybe the see Ruby Falls. There are so many options it is hard to pick just one.

Ditto on Charleston or Savannah- Both VERY photogenic cities. Better than N.O. IMHO.
