Getting URL on a Protected Gallery

ok, I have one question. All of my galleries (at least most) are protected. But if I want to right click to get the URL to post on dgrin, I have to unprotect the gallery, and then proceed.

Since I am the owner of the site, wouldn't it make more sense to not block me from getting to a URL?

thanks!

and this is not a huge peeve it's more of a convenience thing. :D

That's one of the reasons we don't actually block right-click — because there are other things on the right-click menu people want to use.

The first time you click, you get the dialog box that says don't be a thief, but after that when you click again you get the menu so you can pull up the properties dialog.

Unfortunately, it's also the cause of daily heart attacks by people who are afraid right-click isn't working after the first right click.

yeah, I've tried the 2nd time around, and I get this URL instead:

am I missing something? I always have external linking on, and I double-checked just now just to make sure. ne_nau.gif thanks for getting back to me earlier!

That's the new protection SM installed. You've got to look at the source (right-click/source) of the page you want to extract the url from.
Viewing the source you have to search for
    url(http://digitalfaerie.smugmug.com/photos/
This should bring you to the url of the picture you're currently viewing. If you're in thumbnail-view, this should be the first thumbnail of the page.

    Hope this helps,

I'm glad to hear that it works for you. Also thanks for enhancing my vocabulary with this Greek term meaning 'I found it'. thumb.gif
