The honest to god first words out of my mouth were...as follows:

"Holy F*&$!" My room mate asked, "what?"

I replied with, "this picture is gorgeous!"

I hope that answers your question. At least IMO.

Awesome! Dramatic skies and an excellent composition (that large rock really anchors the composition IMO).

One extremely minor thing, you might want to clone out the airplane trails (one in the sky and two in the reflection).

Exactly what I was thinking. Don't even really wanna try to make a photo for #20 now...not with this in the running...

Absolutely gorgeous image, pyro!

The only distraction for me is the horizon line. Since the horizon/bank is so dark/impenetrable, my eye is fooled into thinking the entire image is tilted slightly to the right. The rock and trees look like they're going to slide downhill and outside the frame. I think it's just an optical illusion, but it really starts to distract me the longer I look at it.

i had the same thing going, and my first impulse was to straighten the horizon line, but then i realized it's the shore curving. not sure what if anything i can do about it

ok, I'll go...
I like the second one. I love the wispy clouds and the slight ripples in the water.
But then, my choices don't always match everyone elses. I just go on gut feel and not looking for the rights and wrongs of it.

I didn't reply earlier because I couldn't make up my mind. I like the horizontal crop for this scene, but I love the sun in the vertical one. I actually like the scene better in #2, but I'd rather see it horizontal (if that makes any sense).
