    Brian,

Is there a comparable lens made for a Nikon mount?

I've searched high and low but cannot find any information on one.

If not with one lens, is there a way to achieve this level of magnification with stacked lenses or extension tubes, etc.?

Hi, fraid there isn't anything else out there like the MPE-65 for any mount.
All the other macro lenses stop at 1:1 where the MPE-65 starts.

A few choices to achieve higher mags.

    1. Macro lens around 100mm plus kenko ext tubes will take you to 2:1

    2. Reversed lens on the front of another - various mixes but a reversed 50mm onto a 100mm macro lens gives 3:1

    3. Body reversing lenses eg the kit zoom lens gives from 1:1 to 3:1 mags when reversed directly onto the camer body.

you can combine 1 & 2 and get to 4:1 plus with these methods you still have full aperture control which you lose with a body reversed lens.

Thanks for the info Brian. This is really helpful.

At what magnification were these shots taken? If different for each, at what mag was the first Lady Bug and second Hoverfly shots taken?
