Washington DC - Cherry Blossoms

Is anyone planning on hitting the tidal basin this week and weekend (3/30 - 4/5)? Peak blooms are supposed to be this week! Last year a group of dgrinners hit the tidal basin after the cherry blossoms were pretty much gone, but we had fun anyway.

I'm going to head up there after work one day this week and I hope to make it up on the weekend too.

If you're planning on being around drop a line in this thread!

and don't forget to make a stop at the conservatory!

We're no longer in the area to enjoy this, but last year we Dgrinners who made it had so much fun.

I hope to see some threads soon showing how it looks this year

My daughter, Cassis and I will be in the tidal basin area around 0700 Saturday, 04 April 2009... we will get our cherry blossom shots and move up to Pennsylvania Av for the Japanese American festival between 10th and 14th... starts at 1100... would love to hook up with any dgrinner who is so inclined to show up... call me on my cell when you get there 240-832-6503... It is supposed to be a real nice day... see you all there!

Can't wait to see the pix. It really doesn't feel like Spring without being able to see those cherry blossoms again :cry

I wasn't sure that I would be able to make it so I didn't jump in for a meet. Work tends to get in the way at the most inopportune moments. Did manage to stop by for a few minutes to experiment with IR on the blossoms. Still not sure what to think about it, but here's one image.

That's pretty cool Kev... I am still going through my 200+ images... Saturday was insanely crowded... know one called :cry so it was just me and my daughter... we had great fun... will post in journeys when I'm done with post and upload...
